Post 138: MapleFest, Perth, On, 2019

MapleFest, April 27th, 2019, Perth On

Perth, On, April 27th, 2019, we had the fortunate opportunity to explore MAPLEFEST, in Perth, On. It was a cold windy day, but that did not stop the hoards of people from coming out to enjoy this very festive event (sorry for the pun lol).

MapleFest also known as Festival of Maples, was a fantastic surprise and a real pleasure to discover.

MapleFest is the finale to the month long celebration in Perth on the last Saturday of each April.

What you will see at MapleFest!

Maple products with displays of how maple syrup is produced were found in many booths lining the street of Downtown Perth on Gore street East. The folks were super friendly and happy to chat and explain things to any one who cared to stop and listen. 🙂

There were many other booths as well selling pretty much anything you could imagine. Gore Street East was lined with over 100 craft and Artisans vendors. Food was readily available. The hand crafts were amazingly well done and fairly priced.

Side road surprises in Perth, On!

On a side road, was a huge stage with live musical entertainment. Another side road held classic antique cars on display. The Emergency services were out in full force with safety demonstrations and very helpful folks manning those booths as well.

Behind Gore street in a parking lot was a Midway with pony rides, petting zoo and children’s activities

Local restaurants were not to be out done during MapleFest!

We heard the Perth Jaycees had a pancake breakfast, but we chose to venture into the Mex&Co restaurant for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find a cozy place to sit by a fireplace and a menu that was immense.

There was a Maple Fest special that was less expensive than the regular items. The special of the day was Mexican food with Maple syrup in it. lol I loved the meal and the wraps were ginormous and most filling.

The staff was super friendly and even though they were crazily busy, they took the time to chat with us and answer anything we asked about. This restaurant has an outdoor balcony overlooking the Tay River.

Returning to Mex&Co Restaurant!

We are looking forward to going back in the warmer weather and hopefully getting a seat out on the balcony :). You are lower than the normal sidewalk there so you can watch ducks on the water and people passing by on the upper sidewalk. Very cool.

MapleFest ran from 9am to 4 pm for only 1 day.

This was a terrific way to spend our Saturday, and we didn’t mind the cold at all. There was just too much to see and experience. :).
