Chute de Plaisance – Waterfall

Today was such a beautiful day, we decided to take a drive and do some exploring. Bill had found through his research a near by Waterfall that he was really interested in taking pictures of with his new camera. This location was called Chute de Plaisance (Waterfall) and it was located about 1.30 min from us. Perfect for a destination we decided.

Loading the dogs up in the truck, Bills spiffy new camera and we were off. Such an interesting drive, we kept popping in and out of Ontario and Quebec. The scenery was gorgeous with lovely green fields, quaint, towns open vistas of tall bridges over sparkling blue meandering rivers.

We even got to drive through some remarkable cut outs in the rocks where they had to blast their way through for the highway.

Arriving at the Falls

Arriving at the falls the dogs were anxious to get out of the car to begin our walk. The trail was only 1 km long through a pretty treed area. We soon found the water leading down to the spectacular natural beauty of the falls.

Each photo stop was more spectacular than the last. A scenic lookout, observation points and a hiking trail let you get right up close to these falls. The falls have a  63-meter vertical drop and are found on a Historical site. “The Falls were an important economic factor in the founding of the 19th-century village of North Nation Mills (now only a memory).” Quoted from their webpage.

During times of operation, you may take tours with on-site interpretive activities bringing to life this important part of the history of the Petite-Nation.
